This is your best?

Go back to sleep.

Re: 6 Comic Book Movies That Clearly Didn’t Read Their Source Material

What you actually mean to say here, I believe, is that rape "should not" be used as the means to move a story forward. I disagree with you but I feel this more accurately defines the reason for your posting as you did.

If you say rape is not allowed, then you per force invoke the maintaining of a list which outlines all events that may not be used to relate a story in a movie. This is required so that all movie makers in your area of control, be that a town, state, or country, can all uniformly follow your edict. It would then be my guess that, if you think hard enough, then rape will not be the only event you, and perhaps others who advise you, feel belong on your new list of banned movie story or plot elements.

Raising what should be the now obvious question:

Where do you draw the line and stop adding things to your list?

Do we stop allowing the same things in books? How about in TV shows? How about we go into libraries and burn all the books that have a rape in the story? How about all the books that have other story elements we don't like? How about we imprison anyone who ever writes about rape? Or about anything we don't like?

Such questions are at the heart of what the US Constitution tries to not only protect for you, as a citizen, but DEFINE for you, for your full understanding of what those rights and entitlements are. That document attempts to guarantee you these rights the minute you are born human into the world. That, along with your status as a legal citizen of the US is all that is ever required of you in order to obtain these rights on US territory.

Rights that are precious. Rights that you would NOT have in many, many other countries. Rights that are the very first things a dictator or autocrat or oligarch will move to take away from you. Which, that fact alone should be enough to make you realize how significant... how precious these rights are to you.

This is the line of intellectual reasoning that lies behind such decisions, that invoke the Constitution and what it represents, as when Larry Flint was found not guilty of indecency charges for publishing Hustler magazine. You may want to see old Larry in prison for being a perv, but the same rights and guarantees that protected him also protect you. Which is why those rules and laws are so important, and so sacred to the structure and function of our society.

I understand your reaction to the portrayal of rape in a movie. Especially if you have seen a movie such as "I Spit On Your Grave"... which apparently you have. But, as is true in every case where someone flippantly offers up one of our constitutionally protected and guaranteed rights for sacrifice on the alter of social control and engineering, you really should think, very, very carefully, before you give up something to which any human, simply by virtue of being born alive on this planet, is and should be guaranteed forever.

You have a way to express your desire to not see rape portrayed in movies... DON't GO. Don't pay your money, drive your car, use your gas, spend your time, to see a movie that has a rape scene.

That's what our armies fight for. That's why we create countries and declare citizenship. That's why US citizens are required to maintain loyalty, NOT to any person... NOT to any government or other institution... but to THE NATION, which is not only, by implication, us the PEOPLE... but is also exactly what the founding fathers intended when they wrote this amazing document,

Our Declaration of sovereign rights... meaning rights we can never lose, or be denied, as long as we live.

Like The Bible, which, religious or not you should read once in your life, the US Constitution is a document you should read, and try hard to understand, at least once in your life.

Consider this, the next time you want to black list something... or someone.

Re: Insidious: Chapter 4 Will Take Place Closer To First Film

i dont think so i would expect a different reaction so looked even more afraid of that then she did the red faced demon from the first movie

Re: 10 Martial Arts Actors Who Deserve More Recognition

Good people having worked in film etc as technical advisor (MA, Firearms, explosives etc) I can tell you most anyone can be made to look 'fantastic' on film, it's part of film making itself really. But the people you mention are real MA people who could really fight without a script and actors to fall down for them. By the way I 66 now and still young black belts can only rarely lay a hand on me in hard sparring, but some do and I see stars :). Learn to understand that what you see in films has nothing to do with real fighting in the outside world. There is seldom much 'back and forth action' in real fight and as bouncer I have seen scores and scores of them. Most real fights are decided after the first 3 or 4 seconds too. Another reality is that a semi pro boxer will drop most black belts very quickly in the ring and even faster in the street. Real fighting is not as much about "techniques' as training methodology. The boxing technology really can't be beat for the effectiveness of training method. It's great weakness is striking i wth a naked fist (no glove, no taped hands) to ther head. Muchamned Ali (to me the greatest boxer of all time and I saw him fight) and Foreman and other world champs broke their hands in the ring with taped hands and gloves so imagine what would happen in real fight striking with a naked fist.

Re: Justice League Movie Villains And Green Lantern’s Role Revealed

Green Lantern is more JL than Cyborg! I always heard that Cyborg was associated with Robin's group the Titans, but he is more them than JL. I don't think you can have a JL movie from the jump without GL. Why include Cyborg, if he's more Titans than JL and there're few more JL than GL?! Already off to a bad start when their other movies were almost 100% flops!

Re: 10 Martial Arts Actors Who Deserve More Recognition

Segal needs to use his aikido to defeat his ego.

Re: 10 Martial Arts Actors Who Deserve More Recognition

I'd agree with the assessment that most of these guys are fantastic MAs and look great in choreographed fights, but some of them like Michael Jai White and Scott Adkins should put an equal amount of time into acting classes.

Re: 10 Great Films Ruined By Terrible Plot Twists

The funny thing is that the idiotic silver bullet in Signs created such outrage that is obscured the actual worst plot twist in the film, a slightly softer but ultimately far more disturbing one. God killed Mel Gibson's wife in an incredibly horrible way in order to send him and his brother a short, cryptic message that wouldn't make sense until months later. When Mel Gibson works this out, HE FORGIVES GOD AND BECOMES A PRIEST AGAIN. Or Santa Sangre, where you're never sure if the circus characters are really there or just in the hero's mind as the story's told backwards? Or 'The Garden', or - and yes I know it's a kids' film but what the heck - 'Dragon Hunters', where an entire world spends 90 minutes floating apart in complete disregard of gravity and not once does a character give a damn! Another kids' one of these I love is 'Miniscule', totally wordless, beautifully animated little adventure. Or 'Red Tea and String', the only film the director/animator ever made. Or - check this out on YouTube for the beauty of its visuals - 'Heartstring Marionette'. OK, not the greatest story, but every scene is lovely to look at. That guy's made 3 full-length films on his home PC and REALLY should get a Hollywood chance. Or the short movie 'Butterfly', stop-frame animation, about a man being helped back to sanity (a bit like Santa Sangre, but in a different way.) Er.... I helped make that, along with a whole bunch of other people living in a town where there USED to be an asylum. We made the movie about our experiences - it's on YouTube if you want to see it!! (Sorry for the shameless plug, I didn't direct it, was just one of the many animators.)

Re: 5 Utterly Traumatizing French Horror Films To Watch On Halloween

""we call it a Wallonian film""

Walloon

Re: 5 Utterly Traumatizing French Horror Films To Watch On Halloween

""Belgians speak two languages""

Three ! you forgot German !
